DRAWING WITH STRINGDrawing with string is really cool, because it is a cool and innovative way to do art. Basically the artist took an outline of a country and they put nails as the outline of that country into a block of wood and they then took out the outline and then look string and tied it on to parallel nails to create a really unique effect. This can basically be done with anything, it doesn't have to be an outline of a country. This DIY requires a lot of patience as there are probably 100s of nails hammered into the wood.

Robert Lang: The math and magic of origami Ted Talk Robert Lang takes mathematics and the foundations to fold elegant origami, originally the old origami's consisted of simple ordinary things like a crane, Robert takes that to the next level with mathematics following 4 simple rules of origami whilst using ONE PAPER to make intricate designs of origami. Rule one; 2 color patterns Rule two; The number of mountain folds differ by two folds at any interior vertex (M-V = +2 or -2) Rule three; number the angles around the circle's and the even angles add up to a straight line and adding up all the odd angles ass up to a straight line as well. Rule four; All layers are able to stack where a sheet can never penetrate a fold Robert while following these four rules shows how one is able to create many intricate items. The class can benefit from this ted talk because this can be potentially used for a medium of artwork that students will be working on in the upcoming weeks. |
When you first get a glimpse of the intricate carved works of art, it seems as if they are carved porcelain, but it ended up being thousands and thousands of layers of plain white paper which are carved into, skulls, human bodies, busts. The artwork is by a Beijing artist named Li Hongbo who is a book editor and designer. Li Hongbo became interested by traditional Chinese toys and festival decorations which are known to be called paper gourds made from glued layers of thin paper which is placed flat against one another and there is no way you can tell it is paper until it is opened to form different shapes. Hongbo had a solo show at Dominik Mersch Gallery in Australia who then made the vedios, to find out more you can visit his website which has more of his work.
